Do not believe in the hype that video game testing jobs are extremely easy and a lot of fun. We can use cars for an example. Most of us would love to drive a Ferrari and Lamborghini all day, but we would not like to fix them or take the time to build them.
Enjoying a video game at your own leisure time is completely different than trying to get the finished product out to the market to sell. The former is entertaining, while the latter is a lot of stress.
Do not get the idea that you will sit at home with bunch of friends to play new games that are not even released in the market. You generally start off at ten dollars or less per hour in wage, and if you take this job lightly, you might never get a raise or advance in different positions. If you take the job seriously, you can see $20+ per hour, and perhaps your chance to work inside the game company.
You are constantly under pressure because of deadlines, and you have to do a lot of verbal and writing communications. You must have pen and paper next to you at all times so you can jot down the problems of the video game. Do you think you can enjoy a game if you are constantly writing reports?
You cannot just write something simple, such as, I jumped through the hole and then suddenly I disappeared out of no where. You need a lot more details than that, and you need to duplicate the process so you can investigate what was the problem.
